NEXT EVENT - RMA PANEL |TUESDAY 17th MARCH 2026 | 6.00PM START | BARRACKS AMMO MEETING ROOM | 170 ST HILL STREET
The Whanganui Residents and Ratepayers Association re‑formed in 2024 as a direct response to escalating rate hikes and perceived disconnect between ratepayer contributions and council service delivery. With an interim leadership, early political engagement and a focus on fairness and accountability, the new association positions itself as a watchdog force.
Being part of a Residents and Ratepayers Association committee offers a unique opportunity to contribute positively to your community. Committee members bring a spirit of collaboration, curiosity and a drive to improve outcomes for all residents of Whanganui - whether through policy insight, practical skills or community connection.
If you’re someone who values fairness, transparency and local decision-making - we encourage you to get involved.
We warmly invite you to join the membership of the Whanganui Residents and Ratepayers Association and express interest in helping on a subcommittee. Whether your strengths lie in communications, policy research, event coordination or simply listening and representing your neighborhood, there’s a place for your contribution.
Together, we can make sure our voices are heard and our community is well-represented.
To learn more or express interest, please reach out via whanganui.ratepayers@gmail.com or attend our next public meeting - for a list of upcoming events please check our events page.
We are organised as an Incorporated Society and registered with the NZ Government. To view our incorporated certificate please follow this link.
An Annual General Meeting is held every year (within 3 months of the end of the financial year). Committee members are elected by members of the Association at this meeting.
Special meetings are then called on an issue by issue basis.
Monthly meetings are held at The Barracks, 170 St Hill street.
Members are welcome to attend or speak at the open forum to raise issues
