NEXT EVENT - RMA PANEL |TUESDAY 17th MARCH 2026 | 6.00PM START | BARRACKS AMMO MEETING ROOM | 170 ST HILL STREET
Welcome to the Whanganui Residents & Ratepayers Association
We are a community-led, not-for-profit group representing people who live in and/or own property in Whanganui, New Zealand.
Our purpose is to provide clear, reliable information to our members about council projects and decisions and to create a constructive pathway for discussion on issues that matter to residents and ratepayers. We represent the interests of those who contribute to Whanganui’s rateable income and seek to ensure that council decision-making is transparent, well-reasoned and genuinely in the best interests of the wider community.
Given the complexity of the RMA, the Association are hosting a public meeting with Carl Bates MP and Simon Court, Undersecretary RMA Reform to clarify the key issues.
The Whanganui Chronicle reached out for our thoughts on the Rates Cap. A summary of our membership feedback can be found here.
The Association raised serious questions about transparency. A public information evening was held with a guest speaker. Review the video here.
